Research-Residency Program 2019
Open Source Arts is inviting expressions of interest from Leeds-based dance artists to be in residence at our studio.
We welcome applicants looking to engage in creative research, prioritising experimentation and risk-taking over the generation of an artistic product.
The RR Program is a space for investigation of innovative modes of enquiry and bold approaches to the making of new dance-work. It challenges artists to experiment and test ideas out, journeying through insecurity and indecision, in order to inform the emergence of bold new work. We encourage artists in residency to engage their peers, inviting them to participate in their research process and share their learning, during and following the residency.
The successful applicant will receive two weeks of studio-space, as well as mentoring from our Creative Producer in the end of the research, to support the development of the creative project. During the research period the artists will have the opportunity to delve deeper into their practice, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with our diverse creative community.
Open Source Arts passionately supports the local independent dance scene, providing spaces for research and contemporary creation, as well as training and networking opportunities – to develop the potential for multidisciplinary collaboration.
Please note that Open Source Arts is a multidisciplinary open-space venue with deliberate diverse on-going activities.
