In partnership with the European Media Art Platform, FACT invites residency applications from artists dealing working in digital media, including Internet and computer-based artists, filmmakers, and those working in media based performance, sound, video, robotics and bio-art. The residency includes a 3,000 Euro grant, 4,000 Euro project budget, funded accommodation and travel expenses up to 500 Euros. In addition to funding, the artist will be granted access to FACT Lab facilities, professional guidance, and presentation opportunities.

Themes

FACT welcomes all proposals, but would particularly invite applications from artists whose research and practice concerns Gender Representation and Labour, or Intersectional Feminism.

Residency Period

The residency will take place over 2 months within Spring or Summer 2019, depending on the theme of your project.

FACT Lab

Through the residency period the artist will be granted access to FACT Lab equipment and workshop space. See below for further details.

Application Criteria

  • Artists with EU passport can apply for a two-months residency within April and August 2019 (exact timing has to be negotiated with the host) at one of the host institutions.
  • Applications should be submitted online and must include a CV, (audio)-visual documentation and a preliminary plan or sketch of the proposed project to be developed within the EMARE programme.
  • Undergraduate and Master’s students are not eligible, but emerging artists, regardless of age, are encouraged to apply.
  • Artists groups are welcome to apply, if they are willing to share project resources including the accommodation, grant and project budget. Based on limited resources, only one artist per group may be invited to the networking conference and group shows.

  • – If you have not yet registered, you can do so by following the link above.
  • – Once you have completed registration, you will be assigned a personal log-in account, through which you can access the online application form.
  • – Your application is stored online in the ‘My submissions’ section of your account, where it is available for you to edit any time up until the deadline (after that the section of the website will be closed).
  • – Please note that it is permissible to submit more than one application via your personal log-in.

Further Information – About FACTLab

FACTLab is located on the third floor of the FACT building, next to FACT HQ – the main office. It is an adapted office space ideal for workshops, coworking, presenting, desktop-making, planning, and teaching. It includes work surfaces, a central bank of desks and chairs (seating approx 18), presentation screens and basic kit and computers.

Residents will also have access to a gallery prep space in which they can cut, paint and undertake and other dust-making work with access to a full range of basic tools (including power tools). FACT also have a Technical Manager, Learning Technologist, IT Manager and Video Production Manager on site who are able to troubleshoot and assist during your residency.

We are also very close toDoES Liverpool, a nearby makerspace, who host maker nights and have a wide range of kit which can be used by anyone after an induction, at a small cost.
