New Light Prize Exhibition 2017

This will be the fourth New Light biennial Prize Exhibition + celebrates the range and quality of work being produced by artists in + from the North of England. It is open to artists at any stage in their creative careers, whether established or emerging, with the prizes on offer including the £10,000 Valeria Sykes Award, a Patron’s Choice Award of £2,500 and a special Printmakers’ Prize.

Artists born, resident or who have studied in the North of England (Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire) are eligible to apply, with paintings, drawings, print and wall-hung sculpture all accepted. Every work on the short-list will feature in the New Light Prize Exhibition which opens at the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle before touring to two more of the North’s most prestigious venues: Huddersfield Arts Gallery and Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle. The full exhibition will also be heading down to the cultural heart of London where it will spend a week at the capital’s Bankside Gallery.
