Liverpool Mental Health Festival 2016
Liverpool has been a veritable trailblazer in recent years, promoting good mental wellbeing and challenging stigma. The city has marked World Mental Health Day on 10th October with events and activities since 2010 and, in 2015, saw 27,000 people take part in a World Mental Health Day celebration on Williamson Square with music, performance, dance and circus, alongside stalls providing information and advice.
Organisers, Liverpool Mental Health Consortium, will raise the bar even higher this year by organising Liverpool’s first Mental Health Festival. Taking place from 1st – 16th October, the festival programme will kick off with a comedy night, and include an art exhibition in several venues across the city, a film night at FACT, training, creative workshops, a writing competition, performances and neighbourhood events. A festival highlight will be the full-day celebration on Williamson Square on Saturday 8th October.
Liverpool Mental Health Consortium, a user-led charity and community of service users, voluntary and statutory sector providers and commissioners, is inviting individuals and organisations to contribute to the festival programme and will promote all free events and activities.
