Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum: Artist Call out – Freelance Creative Facilitators

Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum: Artist Call out
Freelance Creative Facilitators

WHO: Visual artists, craftspeople, makers, designers, photographers and writers

Kirkby Gallery is looking to expand its pool of Freelance Creative Facilitators, covering all aspects of the visual arts (particularly drawing, painting and printmaking), crafts, sculpture, photography and creative writing. We are additionally looking for artists who can teach at intermediate and advanced levels as well as introductory, as evidenced by their skills, professional portfolio and previous teaching experience. Our artist fee rates are determined by this.

As we run a broad public and educational programme, our workshops and courses engage with all sectors of the community as well as schools. All freelancers will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check which we will organise (unless they have worked for Knowsley Council within the last two years) as well as possessing their own public liability insurance.

Whilst current times are challenging with Covid, we are exploring new ways in which to deliver our work in new socially-distanced locations and situations, all of which is risk assessed.

Much of our work now is building towards Knowsley’s ‘Borough of Culture’ year in 2022. In 2022, Prescot will see the opening of the new Shakespeare North Playhouse, which will see an increased influx of cultural tourism. The purpose of the Borough of Culture award is to celebrate and stimulate new cultural and creative opportunities, highlighting the unique character and distinctiveness of its people and places, and developing the skills and talents of its residents in order to create an exciting year of cultural events and activity that everyone can enjoy and take part in. Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum have so much to offer, and we hope to stage complementary exhibitions and events between the sister venues during the year, firmly positioned as part of the cultural trail across the borough.

To apply, send up to 5 jpegs of your work which you think best demonstrate your current practice/portfolio (and website address if available), your artist statement, CV, full contact details (inc. address).

Please don’t send jpegs which total more than 6MB.
