I’m Not from Round Here, Artist-in-Residence, elysiumgallery & studios

Deadline: Monday 25 April 2016. Paid.

I’M NOT FROM ROUND HERE, (3 months, £2000)

From the Station to the Sea and elysiumgallery are pleased to be offering an artist residency opportunity at their High Street venue in Swansea to begin in July 2016.

About the residency
From the Station to the Sea is an Arts Council Wales-funded project about Swansea High Street, co-ordinated by Volcano Theatre and Coastal Housing Group, both of which are based on Swansea High Street. elysiumgallery runs a gallery and artist work spaces across three venues in the city, including studios (where the residency will take place) in the same building as Volcano.

The residency is just one part of a programme of diverse yet connected regeneration projects about Swansea High Street – the idea of the High Street, the lived reality of the place, and the possibilities of its transformation.

You will have 24-hour access to your studio (12ft x 8ft) and support as required to research and develop ideas on the theme of ‘I am not from round here’. We are flexible about precisely how much of the three months is spent in Swansea/the studio and would welcome an indication of this in your proposal.

We would like the residency to have an outcome of some description that can be displayed/presented/shared/experienced either in Volcano Theatre’s space or on Swansea High Street from October 2016.

About the artist
We are interested in hearing from artists working in any medium who are curious to spend time somewhere that’s new to them and to share that experience with other artists and the wider community. Please note that this residency is not open to students. We explicitly encourage applications from artists who are not from round here.

Selection of artist: May 2016
Residency: July 4th – Sept 30th 2016
Outcome: October 2016 onwards

There is a payment of £2000. Travel and accommodation expenses available.
