Support programme activities begin
July 2019

We are inviting artists’ spaces, groups and collaboratives across England to be part of our pioneering Guild programme. Designed to tackle some of the biggest challenges in the sector, the programme will pool expertise, knowledge and funds to offer bespoke support to 20 artist groups to help them become more resilient and sustainable.

This support could include developing a business plan, securing funds for physical and organisational development, devising strategies and action plans to embed the groups firmly within their localities and developing networks and contacts outside of the arts sector.

With master classes and networking opportunities, mentoring, guidance from outside the sector, site visits and research trips, Guild is open to studio groups and artist workspaces or collaboratives working in the visual arts. We will create an adjustable service that ensures it responds to the groups’ needs and capacity from new, small and emerging organisations to more established enterprises.

The 20 groups will be selected based on a variety of criteria including the spaces’ potential for growth, its ideas and its interest in connecting to its locality.

Guild is funded by Arts Council England’s Sector Support Organisation programme. Led by East Street Arts in partnership with a-n The Artist Information Company, Stockholm Environment Institute, Key Fund, the University of Leeds and University of Salford.

If you are selected to participate, one or two key members of your group must be able to attend the support programme activities. We envision this process happening over a two to three year period, depending on the specific needs of the group. It is also important that all selected groups participate in the evaluation and monitoring process, providing the relevant data and engaging with the process.

How do I find out more?

Full details about this invitation to be part of Guild can be found in the document above and you can read more about the programme on the Guild project page.
