Freelance Community Artist – Speke Adventure Playground

TENDER BRIEF:
FREELANCE COMMUNITY ARTIST

The Brief:

Speke Adventure Playground is looking to engage a Community Artist to help us better connect the young people from Speke with the City’s wider cultural scene by delivering three separate projects that develops their creative thinking, skills and self expression.  We want you to help inspire, build confidence and support self-achievement through the use of creative/visual art and costume design.

We want to engage an artist, whose innovation exceeds our in house capacity, to deliver inclusive opportunities across various art forms that will support learning, bridge isolation, promote diversity and explore differences between people/cultures by creating costumes and art structures that drives our participation in wider city events; examples might include Brazilica, Liverpool Pride or the International Street Carnival, but we are open to your suggestions and wider input.

Through your engagement we would like our young people to experience success, work in groups and individually, to challenge their perceptions, develop their creativity and through unique platforms be able to reflect, understand and explore self-awareness and self-expression.

About You:

You will need to demonstrate that you have past experiences of working with local community groups and preferably young people and be able to showcase some of your artistic and creative achievements to date.  Although not essential, formal qualifications would be an advantage.

You also need to be well connected with the City’s cultural programmes and be able to make links between City events and opportunities that our young people can actively participate in.

We also want you to work with our staff to develop an outline programme/ideas for them to deliver creative arts projects throughout the year.

Consultation and evaluation with the young people will also be key and although we will support this activity we would like to work with you to explore how we can evidence impact in more creative ways.

About Us:
