The eighth edition of LightNight Liverpool, the city’s late-night arts and culture festival, will take place on Friday 19 May 2017. Ahead of this date, we are looking for an agency / freelancer to undertake a refresh of the festival brand and website. LightNight has a strong existing brand and identity; the purpose of this refresh is to maintain the festival’s strong look and feel while encompassing the scope of the festival’s growth in recent years.

LightNight has a strong existing brand and identity; the purpose of this refresh is to maintain the festival’s strong look and feel while encompassing the scope of the festival’s growth in recent years, to try something new, and to reach an even broader audience – especially those with little or no existing interest in the festival / arts and culture in the city.
Your brand identity concept should be:
- Vibrant
- Simple
- Clean
- Stylish
- Accessible / inclusive
- User friendly
- Include a logo featuring the text ‘LightNight Liverpool’
- Space for a short festival strapline
Please consider that historically, the festival brand has not been photography-led; this is due to the wide scope of activities and events.

ASSETS REQUIRED
When answering this brief please consider that the brand identity is to be used across the following:
- Programme – A printed brochure to contain LightNight introduction, event listings, venue list, location map, timed chart and potential partner advertising. All relevant information will be provided by Open Culture.
- In previous years the printed programme has comprised a 32pp A5 brochure. On request a PDF copy of the 2015 & 2016 festival programme can be provided via email to give an indication of previous content, organisation, flow etc. All copy and information will be provided by Open Culture as a Word document, unless requested in another format.
Print run: (in the region of) 10,000 - Flyer – A teaser flyer for early promotion of the event prior to the distribution of the full programme. Copy will be provided by Open Culture.
Print run: (in the region of) 30,000 – 35,000 - Posters – One sided colour posters, echoing the front of the flyer. Copy will be provided by Open Culture. A4, A3 and A0 flyposters.
Print run: (in the region of) 200 x A4, 200 x A3, 60 x A0 flyposters. - Merchandise – tote bag, volunteer T-shirts, badges, stickers
- Point of sale – twist and lock point of sale stands for LightNight programmes, specifications to be discussed
- Banners – large banners advertising the festival. Specifications to be determined
- Additional artwork including but not necessarily limited to: print and online advertisements, bus streetliners, on-street correx signage, window vinyl, branding for e shots / social media.

*Where possible Open Culture will source sample prints on various stocks ahead of printing, and our preference is to use sustainable paper stock and to source print services locally*
WEBSITE
Alongside a brand identity and logo refresh, we are also looking to redevelop the LightNight website.
- WordPress-based with straightforward back-end functionality – information will be uploaded by Open Culture
- Easy to navigate for the public – the website will host information for all LightNight events
- User-friendly – information must be clearly presented and easy to find
- Accessible
- A mobile or mobile-optimised version of the website is also required
The website requires the following essential elements:
- Search function
- Social buttons
- Itinerary facility (to be discussed)
- Basic online shop (for programme and merchandise sales)
- Video embed function
A rundown of web pages and any additional functionality that may be required will be provided at a later date.

BUDGET The total budget for this project is £7,000 (excluding VAT) to cover design and development of all items listed above.
