Call for Artists, Ideas & Projects – Made in Halton (Halton Borough of Culture 2021)

Made in Halton is a small grant commissioning programme for arts, culture and heritage projects created by artists, creatives and community groups, living or based in the borough.

There is an open call for ideas and projects that showcase work made in the borough or projects that will be launched across the borough as part of the ‘Celebrate Halton’ Borough of Culture 2021 initiative.

Decisions will be made by senior council officers with advice from the sector.

The grants can be used to fund the total cost of the project or as seed funding for further grant applications made by applicants.

Applications are open until 30 November 2021 viathe form on the BoC website at

The aim of Celebrate Halton is to increase participation in quality cultural activity across Halton, helping more people experience the arts and to benefit from the role that culture can play in transforming lives – improving health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation, increasing community cohesion, inspiring creativity, supporting learning and making Halton a great place to live and work.

This will be achieved by celebrating the borough’s past, present and future through a programme of activity, ranging from small community-led activities to large-scale events.

Cllr Eddie Jones is Halton Borough Council’s portfolio holder for the Visitor Economy, Heritage and Events, and Lead Member for Borough of Culture.  He said: Celebrate Halton has the aim of encouraging more people to consider becoming involved in cultural and community activities in the place where they live. Therefore, the Council is keen to celebrate, support and share the creative talent that we know already exists across our community.

“This particular scheme, as part of the wider programme, will be a welcome investment in individuals and groups who can help enhance the future of our local place, while recognising the important role of Halton’s rich heritage.

“We are pleased to have been able to lever in external funding that will enable the offer of such benefits to local residents, and I encourage all applications to Made in Halton.”

Look out for further information from Halton Borough Council on the events planned over the course of the coming months, as we all come together to Celebrate Halton in 2021.
