Call for creative briefs for the Dee Estuary Landscape Partnership Scheme
Project Summary
Cheshire Wildlife Trust is looking for a creative partner to help people understand and celebrate the amazing wildlife, history and heritage of Dee Estuary. We are preparing a stage 1 application for a Heritage Lottery Fund landscape partnership scheme for the Tidal Dee Catchment Partnership. The scheme will develop a suite of projects focusing on the heritage of the area with a particular emphasis on:
- The special habitats and wildlife associated with the estuary
- The relationships between land and people, how people change the land and how land changes the people
- The Dee Estuary as a changing landscape – past, future and future: geomorphological, economic, social, climate
We want to make art a key element of the scheme and are looking for creative individuals or organizations to help us engage with a wide range of audiences around the estuary through sight and sound to inspire people to take a fresh look at the estuary and gain a new appreciate of its value and special qualities. If you have ideas about how to do this we would love to hear from you.
Submitting a creative brief
We are inviting individuals of organisations to submit creative projects for inclusion within the landscape partnership scheme. Projects can involve any creative activity, which engages people in the three areas highlighted above, such as events, demonstrations, re-enactments, theatre, music, exhibitions, installations, or interpretation. Briefs should describe the activity, the purpose, the audience, the location (if applicable), the duration or frequency and the cost. At this stage no budget has been defined as this can be built into the application. Selection of partners will be weighted on the quality of the activity proposed, not budget. However, as a guideline an individual activity should not cost more than £10,000.
If successful the scheme will run for 3-5 years. We therefore welcome submission of interest from partners willing to contribute throughout its lifetime. There is no form for submissions of you brief, we just want you to tell us what activities you propose in what ever way best suits you. Please email completed briefs to mvarley@cheshirewt.org.uk by Monday 19th December.
If we like what you submit, we will arrange to meet with you and talk more about your ideas. We will do this during January as part of developing our programme of activities for submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Heritage Lottery Fund application
Landscape Partnership Scheme application is a two stage process. At this time we are submitting a stage 1 application. This will take place in May 2017. This is a competitive fund and acceptance as a creative partner is subject to the application being successful. If successful then the scheme enters a development stage which lasts 12-18 months. The creative partner may request funds for project development during this stage. Only when the stage 2 application has been accepted will projects be delivered. This is likely to be 18-24 months after stage 1 submission. If successful in attracting funding, the scheme is likely to run for 3-5 years starting in 2019.
