British Life Photography Awards
A showcase of contemporary and imaginative images that capture the essence and spirit of British life
Welcome to the third British Life Photography Awards, open to all photographers; amateur, professional and all ages.
Winners and commended entrants will have their work on show at the Royal Albert Hall, Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, and be included in a full colour book.
In addition to the prestige and exposure there is a £15,000 prize fund from lead sponsor Sony. The overall winner will receive £7,000 in Sony products.
With ten separate categories link including street life, rural life, portraiture and documentary feature, the awards are a unique visual celebration of British life, in all its richness and diversity, creating an enduring visual record of the spirit and essence of our nation.
Documenting daily life has been a tradition for over a century, so just like the great documentary photographers of the past and present, we want to encourage photographers to elevate the commonplace and familiar into something compelling or fascinating through the craft, creativity and discipline of photography.
BLPA attracts extensive media exposure with a significant following: hundreds of thousands are exposed to the images through the competition, book, nationally promoted exhibitions and press coverage.
Media coverage has included: BBC news, Sunday Times, Independent, Daily Mail, Express and numerous consumer magazines
