Bylines is a new 10-week Bido Lito! course for culture writers of the future from underrepresented backgrounds
Aspiring scribes take note! BYLINES is a free Arts Awards-accredited course facilitated by the editorial team at Bido Lito!.
Applications are now open for 16-25 writers to apply for Bido Lito!‘s Bylines writers course. Starting from mid-September, the course offers future writers from a wide range of backgrounds the opportunity to develop their craft with a comprehensive programme of tutorials.
Over a period of 10 weeks participants will learn key journalistic skills, the best ways of documenting culture, and tools to equip a career in the industry. Over the course of the programme participants will gain one-to-one advice on their writing and will have the opportunity to get work published in Bido Lito! magazine.
Applications are encouraged from writers from underrepresented backgrounds from the Liverpool City Region as we are committed to prioritising spaces for participants who identify as BAME, LGBTQI+, working-class, disabled and female.
Tutorials take place every Wednesday 5pm-7pm via Zoom from 23rd September. Further programme details are listed in the introduction to the application form.
The Winter 2020 edition will be the first of many courses led by Bido Lito! as we look to continue this work throughout 2021 and connect young people from underrepresented backgrounds with culture and help them express their experiences of music and the arts.
The application form involves submitting a written exercise so entrants are advised to start the form process as early as possible.
