The deadline for applications is Friday 11 December 2015
MK Gallery’s Learning Team has issued a call out for applicants to its Artist Residency 2016, seeking an Outdoor Arts practitioner or artist collective to support the conception and delivery of its recently announced Green Town Group project.
The Green Town Group is a pilot outdoor arts engagement programme supported by the Ernest Cook Trust, one of the UK’s leading outdoor arts charities. The successful applicant will devise artist-led activity designed to test new approaches to outdoor learning. This includes the delivery of twelve outdoor sessions in MK’s green spaces between January and June 2016 for four selected MK primary schools, and six sessions for families with children ages 7+ during school holiday periods across 2016.
Applicants will need to be able to draw on a wide selection of ideas and skills in order to initiate exciting creative learning experiences in an outdoor context, making use of Parks Trust locations across Milton Keynes. Activities will touch on many areas of the national curriculum and resultant learning will be fed back into the classroom. The successful applicant will also be expected to support pupils and participants wishing to achieve their Discover and Explore Arts Awards certificates, a nationally recognised arts engagement scheme.
Bethany Mitchell, MK Gallery’s Childhood Learning Coordinator said: “This Artist Residency 2016 opportunity applies both to our Schools Programme (Key Stage 1) and our Family Learning Programme. We look forward to finding an applicant to help us develop creative learning experiences for diverse individuals and groups from MK communities and further afield. This is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of developing exciting learning methods that connect contemporary arts with outdoor learning.”
The deadline for applications is Friday 11 December 2015 and the successful applicant will be notified in early January.
