Artist Call: Artist Development Advisory Groups 2024-2025, The Lowry

The Lowry would like to invite 10 independent artists, creatives or producers working across live performance (5 artists) and visual arts (5 artists) to form two Artist Development Advisory Groups.

The Lowry would like to invite 10 independent artists, creatives or producers working across live performance (5 artists) and visual arts (5 artists) to form two Artist Development Advisory Groups. These groups will play an important role in evaluating and influencing our Artist Development work at The Lowry, ensuring that our strategies and activities are informed by artists and creatives and continue to reflect current and future needs.

This is a paid role. Advisory Groups will be in place for 1 year (March 2024 – March 2025) and will meet 4 times a year at The Lowry.

In forming these groups, we are looking to connect with artists who are passionate about developing creative and professional practice, invested in learning and want to take part in conversations about what Artist Development means to artists and the role it plays in impacting and shaping the wider arts sector.

For more information and to apply please go to:

We welcome applications from people who consider themselves to meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • – Enthusiastic about and committed to contemporary performance and visual arts practices
  • – Actively involved in and informed about the wider performing and/or visual arts sectors
  • – Sympathetic to the needs of artists, and are themselves working professionally as an artist, creative or/and producer
  • – Keen to develop the sector and working relationships between organisations and freelancers
  • – Have knowledge or experience of collaborative working across artistic disciplines
  • – Have knowledge or experience of working nationally or/and internationally

The Advisory Groups’ main role is to be a critical friend and sounding board for our Artist Development programme by sharing expertise, experience, skills, and creative ideas to inform discussion and debate. The group is not responsible for a specific budget and has no programming or financial responsibility.

The group will be invited to:

  • – Offer feedback on the training and development support that The Lowry offers artists.
  • – Share creative and strategic guidance to help inform the development of current and new programmes.
  • – Share creative ideas and best practice around facilitating feedback to artists.
  • – Act as an advocate for The Lowry’s Artist Development programme in your relevant networks and encourage others as appropriate to get involved and support our work.
  • – Attend events at The Lowry
