Come, Me Pickney!
When Joe’s gran arrives from Jamaica to look after him and his sister, she isn’t quite what ten-year-old Joe expects…

Despite embarrassing him in front of his friends and saying ‘howdy do’ to complete strangers, she brings fun and life to Joe’s world. As the story unfolds, you will find yourself singing along to his gran’s old folk songs, bargaining Jamaican-style for groceries at the market, and shouting ‘sandwich’ at the top of your voice every time Joe’s gran tries to sneak something new into his lunchbox!

Valerie Bloom will read this fantastic new story interspersed with some of her favourite poems. The reading will be set to a specially commissioned soundscape with theatrical lighting.
