The Liverpool Commissions – invitation for proposals

The Liverpool Culture Company is inviting proposals from Liverpool and Merseyside-based artists and arts organisations, for exciting, innovative arts projects of international quality, to take place during 2008 and form a major part of Liverpool European Capital of Culture – a year-long celebration of creativity.

We are looking to commission a series of exceptional works, created especially for the year that:

React to and interact with the unique and unusual spaces and stories of our city, highlighting some of the city’s great architecture, with a spotlight on public spaces and animating buildings both in the city centre and in the neighbourhoods.

OR

Work which is created with the intention of film broadcast, touring or exchange, that will help consolidate and develop national and international partnerships and networks.

This new work must represent edginess, rebellion and non conformity, the essence of Liverpool.

Proposals should be led by Liverpool and Merseyside-based artists and arts organisations. We are particularly interested in proposals that both develop the work of these organisations through new creative collaborations with national and international artists and provide opportunities for collaborative working within Liverpool and Merseyside. Proposals across all art forms are welcome.

DEADLINE: For Initial Project Proposals Friday February 23rd
DEADLINE: Friday 30 March 2007, 5pm
BUDGET: Commissions will have an upper limit of £50,000

Please note this process is open to small and mid-scale arts organisations, and artists who are not receiving programme enhancement support through the 2008 programme budget.
