PIRATE’S PEARL MAKES MERSEY VISIT

UPDATE: It is HMS Bounty which is on tour and arriving in Liverpool.
I am told by a former crew member of HMS Bounty (Dennis Stephens) that this is NOT actually the same thing as the Black Pearl although Bounty did appear in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, she played a cargo ship called the “Edinburgh Trader

  1. Sorry, we only have the information above, according to the tallshipbounty website its sailing to Liverpool today so I guess it’ll arrive in the evening.

  2. Black Pearl has left Maryport early (to beat the weather apparantly) can you please advise when it is open to public if getting to Liverpool a day early?

  3. SEEMS LIKE THE PEOPLE OF LIVERPOOL ARE BEING CONNED ONCE AGAIN . YEH ! IT IS A SHIP , BUT NOT WHAT THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MADE TO EXPECT. STILL THE RUMOUR MILL HAS BEEN ABLE TO EXTRACT THE EXTRA ££££££’s IT WANTED ON A TERRIBLY WET DAY. NOW MOST PEOPLE WILL GO HOME A GO DOWN WITH FLU FOR THE REST OF THEIR SUMMER BREAK.
    Thanks for the lie.

  4. Oh Dear, must be this wet weather making everyone so miserable. I’m sure The Bounty is still a good ship and well worth seeing for those who are interested in such things.
I don’t see that visiting this is any more likely to give people flu than if they went somewhere else.
And the money is to raise funds for the Cutty Sark which was damaged by fire recently

  5. Everone isn’t miserable. Alot of teenagers will have built their hopes up for this.Unfortunatly they will have been persuaded to part with their £££££’s by a trickery of words based on a lie.The Bounty I’m sure is worthy of a visit in it’s own right,I think it has been here before tallships 1981 ???, but you and I know that it would not be as commercially successful as the BP, that is what the lie was all about really isn’t it ?.And the money is to raise funds for the fire damaged Cutty Sark which once repaired will also go on view at a cost to the public and the profits will go where ???????? I wonder !!!!

  6. Yes, fair points cev. I don’t believe it was deliberate though.

As for parting with ££££s, well thats the nature of the tourist or entertainment industry isn’t it. I don’t know where the profits go and don’t really care. If you think its worth paying £5 to go round an old ship then you pay up.
Personally its not my sort of thing but I do know that these things are extremely popular.

  7. I went on the ship today which was ‘meant’ to be the black pearl and I was very disappointed when I came home to find out it wasnt the actually ship people have been claiming it to be.
I stood in the rain for 2 hrs waiting as I love P.O.T.C and paid £5 to go on a ship that could have been any ship.
Im very disappointed and think the people of liverpool will be too.

  8. Hi, does any one know if this ship is going to be docking anywhere else after liverpool??
    Thanks

  9. I am a HUGE fan of P.O.T.C and went a long with great expectations for the day. Firstly there wasnt anybody dressed up like anyone from P.O.T.C and there was nothing from just lookng at the ship that was related to P.O.T.C. We waited 1 and a half hours in the rain to go on board and be told that I had to pay £5 for my 13 year old sister when the website said anyone under 16 goes free, so I refused to pay which was well within my rights to do. When we get on the ship the only thing related to P.O.T.C was a very small picture of a scene out of the film at the bottom of a board. I can appreciate that this was a replica of the HMS Bounty and that there would be information about this but if was just going to be about that then the P.O.T.C should not have been mentioned. As people have gone and paid £5 under false pretences and I personally was bitterly disappointed. Unfortunately you may well have shot yourselves in the foot as Im sure other people will read these messages and may change their minds about giving up their time and money. Not only those who love P.O.T.C but the poor children who got dressed up and were very excited about being on a ship used in a film, you can imagine how difficult it is to explain to a child who is vrey disappointed why the ship was not anything like it said it was going to be. I am extremely disappointed as Im sure many other were too, the organisation was disgusting and anyone could have done better.

  10. You know, I have to say, whether or not Bounty was the Black Pearl, it’s still a replica of a historic ship and very exciting to see and go onboard. Rain or no rain, people made a choice and for the price, I’m sure it was well worth it. It’s not every day that a ship of this importance sails into Liverpool or any other harbour.
