Take Part in the Liverpool ONE Piano Festival

It may not be visual art but I like the look of this. I wish I could play.
Tickle the Ivories
Liverpool’s first Piano Festival!
1 July – 4 Sept 2011

Following the hugely successful showcase of Liverpool arts & culture at Light Night last Friday (see pics here!) Open Culture are happy to announce a brand new project in partnership with Liverpool ONE called Tickle the Ivories.

Liverpool ONE’s first official piano busking festival will see 5 pianos placed on streets of Liverpool ONE creating open-air musical promenades for a shared exploration and celebration of the humble (yet magnificent) piano!

Music-makers and performers of all kinds are invited to book free time slots to perform with and around the pianos at the most popular times of day during the festival. It’s a unique opportunity to promote your act, try your hand at busking, fundraise or take part just because you love to perform! With over half a million visits each week at Liverpool ONE your performance is sure to strike a chord with the public!

Who can take part?
Everyone! During ‘Free Play’ times anyone and everyone can perform and busk using the pianos. Professional or amateur musicians, community groups, school choirs and charities with a keen ear for a tune are invited to book high-profile slots to form part of the festival programme. All styles are welcome from classical to contemporary, folk to funk or jazz to jitterbug! You can even perform theatre or dance works with the piano as accompaniment. All Tickle the Ivories performers are licensed to perform and keep all the proceeds they make.

How to book
Tell us all about your act and suggest your preferred performance times via the online form at www.tickletheivories.org
