SEE THE DARK SIDE OF THE CITY IN LIVERPOOL FILMMAKER’S NEW FILM, WILDCARDS
A dark new thriller is in production on the streets of Liverpool, and its maker is asking the public to help see this compelling short film through to completion.
Called Wildcards, the project is a contemporary take on the film noir genre. It springs from an original idea by young Liverpool filmmaker and photographer Ryan Garry (22), who is developing the project together with acclaimed local crime writer David Siddall.
Production is currently underway, but to ensure that Wildcards can be completed to the highest standards, Ryan has launched a fundraising Kickstarter campaign through the film’s website at http://www.wildcards.bet
Bringing Wildcards to the screen
Ryan is a comparative newcomer to the filmmaking scene, but has already received recognition for his last film, The Creative Process – a documentary about Merseyside artists which was widely screened around Liverpool and is currently being used by the British Council as part of a showcase of the city’s culture.
Now, he believes that Wildcards will catch the imagination of anyone who loves thrilling stories that drip with atmosphere: “I’ve been developing this project for several months with David, and we’ve got a superb script that’s steeped with the ‘Liverpool noir’ theme of his novels. We’ve both lived in the area our whole lives, which gives us a rich insight into the city – that is so often used as a backdrop for productions, but less frequently its setting”.
By pledging money to the project, supporters can play their part in bringing this exciting project to life, as well as earning exclusive rewards depending on how much they pledge – including memorabilia signed by the cast and crew.
