ARD (equivalent in Germany of the BBC) sent a film crew to Liverpool before Christmas to compile a documentary about this year’s Capital of Culture.

As well as interviewing Tate Liverpool artistic director Christoph Grunenberg about his views of the event, they also went to the Slater Street-based International Gallery, run by The Arts Organisation (TAO), to spealk to Colin Serjent, a director of Red Dot. The group were staging an exhibition there at the time, in which all the artwork had been created from waste materials.

“They asked me a number of questions in regard to the Capital of Culture, particularly in relation to the so-called grassroots arts scene in Liverpool, “said Serjent.

The documentary on Liverpool 08 was shown nationwide in Germany on ARD, with extracts from the programme screened on the channel’s main news bulletin.

A copy of the documentary will be sent to Serjent.
