Poetry Trail returns to Wirral Festival of Firsts 2014
The Poetry Trail of poems displayed in shop windows returns to the Festival from 5 – 20 July 2014. Poets are invited to send, in the body of an email, including title and writer’s name, a poem of up to 20 lines to be displayed in shop windows in Hoylake, New Brighton and West Kirby. Please make sure poems are family-friendly. Preference will be given to poems that relate broadly the concept of “Still Life” to complement the Williamson Gallery’s big summer exhibition in 2014. We have been advised that the temporary display of poems in shop windows is not considered to be a form of publication. Please send your Poetry Trail poems in by 21 April 2014. E: email@example.com
World Poetry recital
Wirral Festival of Firsts introduced a World Poetry Recital in 2013, and by popular demand this event returns to Hoylake as part of the World Arts Celebration on Hoylake Promenade on 13 July 2014. Poems from other cultures will be read in their original languages so that the cadences and expression can be appreciated. The Wirral Young Poet Laureate will be there to introduce the readers and provide English translations. If you would like to share the poetry of another language and culture, do get in touch with us to see whether you could perform at the World Poetry Recital 2014 by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org.
