SATURDAY 22 August 2009 ‘ABOVE THE BEATEN TRACK’ at View Two
DOORS 14.00 – LATE £5 ENTRY
View Two Gallery opens its doors for the return of the Above The Beaten Track festival. Following the runaway success of last year’s inaugural event, the Above The Beaten Track team have beavering away to make this year even more special, whilst maintaining our ethos of championing all things alternative, marginal and local; on all three floors of the gallery space.
Music will be provided by a horde of local talent, treating us to the finest of blues, folk and acoustic tinged rock – we’ll be joined by the likes of Ragz, Dead Cities, Marc Sunderland (Peter and the Wolf), Dave Owen, Atlantic Massey, Letters in Red and many more, with Beaten Tracks DJs Richie Vegas, Musica del Alma & Monkey filling in the gaps. There may be a few guests making an appearance too…
And like any self respecting festival should be, it’s about more than the music – we’re joined by our friends at CulturePool for their birthday celebrations hosted by Organic Cherry, plus local live art collective Draw The Line who will be producing a range of art throughout the day, including a live mural – so bring your pens and get involved. TV Lux, Tom George and Canvas will all be hosting events downstairs throughout the day too – there will be film screenings, live AV exhibitions and all kinds of other lovely stuff.
A true example of a collision of art and music, this year’s Above The Beaten Track is striving to support local acts and give a platform to grassroots musicians, artists and performers to showcase their work to vibrant and willing audience – all the while maintaining relaxed festival like atmosphere in the wonderful environs of the View Two Gallery. We’ll be offering food and drink on the night too – sandwiches and cakes to keep your stomach as nourished as your soul.
