Metal shortlisted to win £10,000 through the M&S Energy Fund

Metal have been shortlisted to win £10,000 through the M&S Energy Fund – and need
your votes to help secure it!

Vote for Edge Hill Station Garden

The fund is part of M&S’ ethical and environmental programme, Plan A, which was set up to
enable more communities in the UK to generate renewable energy and become
environmentally and financially sustainable. By installing solar powered energy in Edge Hill

Station Garden, Metal will be able to provide participatory arts events for the local
community and inspiring artists residencies all year round in the garden’s re-developed
arches.

Metal first re-developed the Edge Hill Station Garden in 2011, and over the course of 2017
has explored how public green spaces benefit our day-to- day lives and can drive awareness of environmental sustainability.

Mary Jane Edwards, Metal says: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for the M&S Energy
Fund. This renewable energy project would enable us to broaden our reach, increasing the
number of open garden sessions and opportunities we’re able to offer to artists and our
surrounding communities.“

By installing solar panels to generate and store electricity for lighting and power, Metal would be able to host outdoor activities in the colder months, and offer greater support to artists and the community wishing to engage in local environmental projects. Over time Metal hope that Edge Hill Station Garden will improve local people’s health and wellbeing, create new and exciting opportunities involving art and environmental training to build a stronger sense of community.

Voting closes on 30th September.
