Liverpool Book Art Fair a huge success with hundreds enjoying exhibits and workshops

THE FOURTH ANNUAL FREE ARTISTS’ BOOK FAIR was a huge success earlier this month, with exhibits and workshops bringing hundreds through the door at Liverpool’s Central Library.

The annual fair organised by former Bluecoat chief Simon Ryder, featured many diverse and unique exhibits, including a book with Citroen 2cv doors for pages and even edible cake books.

The workshops for adults and children alike continued to be a big hit at the fair, allowing visitors to try their hand at creating some Book Art for themselves.

Children created their own ‘Monster Books’ with artist Chloe Spicer

Ryder said “I’d like to thank all the artists at this year’s fair, especially Ellie Garraway, for the Citroen 2CV; Chloe Spicer / Object Book, not only for her Monster Books workshop, but for her fantastic cakes presented as books (with ingredients of each cake inspired by the respective book title!); Kate Bufton, Anna Yevtukh and Julie Dodd for their workshops; all my volunteers, especially Heather Walkinshaw; and the brilliant Library staff.”
