Visitors to Liverpool Art Fair at the Pier Head Village will be deciding which lucky artist from this year’s exhibition will win £250 worth of vouchers to spend in Liverpool art shop, CASS Art, thanks to Liverpool Art Fair’s brand new ” Billy Wilson People’s Choice Award”.
Former owner of The Gallery Liverpool on Stanhope Street, Billy sadly died last year, with Liverpool Art Fair deciding to set up the award in his honour for 2017. To pick who you think should win, all you need to do is choose your favourite piece of artwork currently on display at the Art Fair, write down the name of the artist and pop your slip into the post box, currently inside the gallery.
Founder of Liverpool Art Fair, Lucy Byrne, said: “Billy Wilson was an incredibly enthusiastic supporter of the Liverpool Art Fair when he was alive and it feels fitting that the People’s Choice Award has been named in his honour. There is so much artwork on show at the Art Fair this year and it’ll be interesting to see which artist’s work gains the most recognition.” “We’ve had both art aficionados and art newbies through our doors this summer, so hopefully we will have plenty of votes for the People’s Choice Award this year!”

Liverpool Art Fair has also partnered with The Liverpool Local Pound, the local currency which celebrates all things independent in the city and gives customers the chance to get 10% off a product every time they purchase. During the bank holiday weekend, the Art Fair will be showcasing the winners of their recent Crafted in Liverpool competition, which gave local artists and designers the chance to have their work used by Liverpool Local Pound and showcased across the city.
Lucy added: “Liverpool Art Fair is all about showcasing the region’s best art, in an area that is jam-packed with local stalls, markets and traders. Voting in the People’s Choice Award will close on August 22, with the winner to be announced during the August Bank Holiday. Open seven days a week until September 10, noon-7pm, the FREE to enter Art Fair is home to an amazing selection of paintings, prints and sculptures by over 100 local artists.
