IS LIVERPOOL A GLOBAL CITY?
Museum of Liverpool free public debate
Members of the public are invited to join a debate about Liverpool’s identity as a Global City on Wednesday 7 November 2007 1800-2000 hours at World Museum Liverpool.
The discussion is the second in a series of public forums giving people the opportunity to comment on the main themes that will be focused on in the Museum of Liverpool.
– Graeme Milne, research fellow at the University of Liverpool, will be discussing Liverpool’s status as a global city and what the term means.
– Ron Noon, senior lecturer in history at Liverpool John Moores University, will be asking if Liverpool is an outward or inward looking city?
– Jon Murden, curator of social history exhibitions at National Museums Liverpool, will be asking what people think of when Liverpool is called a world city?
Global City is one of four main areas in the new museum. Central to it will be The Liverpool Story, an unmissable show experience created by Liverpool film makers, writers and artists, using local voices to tell the rollercoaster story of Liverpool’s history.
