Latest news from our friends at Club Geek Chic…
In what is being described as ‘a kind of live Desert Island Disks’ by its organisers, the ‘In Conversation With…’ evenings at Liverpool Cathedral starting this month will give audiences a chance to get to the heart of what makes some of the city’s most respected and well-loved names tick.
The series begins on Thursday March 25th 2010 when the legendary radio presenter Janice Long will be interviewed by BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Dave Monks; her favourite songs will be performed by Ian Prowse of Amsterdam and emerging Scandinavian-born, Liverpool-based songstress Ragz.
Doors 19.00 for 19.30 start. Tickets £15 from the Cathedral Shop
Janice’s inteview will be followed on Friday April 23rd by photographer and performer Mike McCartney. Mike will talk about his incredible career taking photographs of some of the biggest names in music history, his time as ‘Mike McGear’ in The Scaffold and his brief stint as a ladies’ hairdresser!
Further confirmed guests this year include actor and director David Morrissey and comedian and impersonator Peter Serafinowicz.
These unique events bring together sons and daughters of Liverpool, some of whom are returning to the city for the first time in many years, and the interviewees will be from a variety of backgrounds including the worlds of acting, music, sport and commerce.
The evening will comprise of an extensive interview interspersed with live, acoustic performances of the interviewee’s five favourite songs performed by established and up and coming Liverpool musicians, followed by questions from the audience. The event therefore becomes an opportunity to bring the audience closer to some of Liverpool’s best loved personalities whilst showcasing the very best of the city’s emerging talent and signed artists.
The ‘In Conversation With…’ series, held in one of Europe’s most magnificent buildings, promises to be an entertaining cultural highlight of 2010 and one that organisers Gemma Aldcroft and Karen Podesta of Club Geek Chic say they hope will continue into 2011 and beyond thanks to the amazing plethora of talent that has emerged from or is inherently connected to Liverpool.
“There are just so many incredible names connected with this city”, says Karen, “and Liverpool Cathedral holds a very special place in the heart of most people so it’s an ideal combination!”
Tickets for ‘In Conversation With…Janice Long’ and ‘In Conversation With…Mike McCartney’ are on sale now and can be purchased at www.cathedralshop.com or by calling 0151 702 7255.
More names in the series are to be announced very soon.
