The Urban Beach is the trendy thing for City centres this year. They already had them in Nottingham and Shoreditch, there’s one in St Helens and from this Thursday 6th August 2009, Liverpool’s Williamson Square will be covered in about 300 tons of sand. Deck chairs will be provided and lots of activities, so take your lunch and a bucket and spade (and umbrella) and pretend you’re somewhere really exotic like, erm, Southport.
The Beach will be there every day to the end of August and on Thursdays its ‘Alive after Five!’ which serves as a reminder that many shops stay open late on Thursdays so stick around for the extra activities in and around Williamson Square, Clayton Square, Church St etc.
What does this have to do with Art? You ask. You’ll have to wait for the next posting to find out.
