The twenty first century has seen an explosion in all kinds of crafting, with craft clubs springing up everywhere from New York to Notting Hill and now its Liverpool’s turn to join the craft revolution with a new monthly event, Craft Creative.
Taking place every second Thursday evening per month (and the occasional Saturday afternoon) upstairs in Leaf on Bold Street, Craft Creative is an alternative platform to embrace traditionally old-fashioned activities with a modern, contemporary edge.
On Thursday 10th February 2011 from 6.30pm – 9.30pm and Saturday 12th February from 2pm – 5pm, Craft Creative will host its first events at Leaf on Bold Street. The two launches will be Valentines themed, where guests can make a homemade gift for their loved one.
The experts on the night will be Julie Yasities an experienced arts and crafts teacher from Widnes and Matthew Rhodes, Head chef at Leaf, teaching how to make Aphrodisiac Love Truffles in a homemade heart box, truelove hand-crafted valentines card and a beautiful heart shaped hanging mobile – all within a space of 3 hours, with all material provided and for only £7 each.
The monthly event is the brainchild of homemade craft enthusiasts Rebecca Christian, age 30 and Camilla Halstead, age 27 and is aimed at girls and guys of all ages, giving a social, stylish twist on craft making. Guests can enjoy drinks, meet new people, listen to music from a live DJ/musician, learn new skills and take home a gorgeous completed item.
Each event will have a local expert to teach new skills from embroidery, screen-printing, candle making, crochet, knitting, sewing or jewellery making. These traditional crafts will be used to make on trend items such as knitted ipod covers, cute frilly knickers, graffiti printed t-shirts or unique jewellery made from old vinyls… the list is endless.
Craft Creative will also be available for private parties, hen parties and birthdays parties, for more information please contact thecraftcreative@gmail.com – twitter: http://twitter.com/CraftCreative
