The Clipper 07-08 yacht race finishes on 5 July 2008.
The return of the Clipper ’07-’08 Round-the-World Yacht Race will be a maritime spectacle befitting a great river.
As the world’s fastest, non-professional, yachting race finishes at the entrance to the Mersey, a flotilla of boats will follow the international yachts up the river to a hero’s welcome for all.
Yachts representing 10 nations, including Australia, Singapore, China and South Africa are taking part, all crewed by international teams.
The fleet includes the Liverpool 08 Yacht, sponsored by the Liverpool Culture Company.
After 35,000 miles and 12 months of intense ocean racing – which has taken the yachts from South Africa to Singapore and El Salvador to New York – expect jubilant scenes!

Liverpool 08 Crew
Having entered a boat in the 2000 Race and hosting the start and finish of the last three Clipper Round the World Yacht Races, Liverpool will now hand over the baton to Hull and Humber to build on the success of the race in recent years by hosting the 09/10 Clipper Race.
Each yacht carries up to ten people who will complete the entire circumnavigation of the globe, while other crew members will join for one or more legs of the race. Approximately 40% of them have no sailing experience whatsoever before beginning their Clipper Training.
