Professional artists and craftspeople with a national reputation, or just starting out, can all be found at a location near you. Artists Studios can be found in front rooms, sheds, barns and industrial units all across Cheshire.
During the weekend of 18th & 19th September 15 artists are open from Warrington to Northwich and from Neston to Broxton giving the public a chance to see how they work. Enjoy this rare opportunity to visit artists in their studios opening their studios and find out exactly what they do and how they do it!
JULIA MIDGLEY of Hartford is one of 5 artists from the NORTHWICH region whose studio will be open to visitors. For the second successive year Julia Midgley’s work has been exhibited in the Royal Academy of Art’s Summer exhibition. The etching Masque, hung this year, was the recipient of Printmaking Today Magazine’s Award at the 2009 Royal Society of Printmakers Exhibition in London.
Julia is a member of Artists in Archaeology, a network of artists selected from the UK to work within The Stonehenge Riverside Project. (www.artistsinarchaeology.org) This archaeological excavation was featured as a Channel 4 Time Team Special “The Secrets of Stonehenge” June 5th 2009, repeated August 2010. One of Julia’s Stonehenge works was exhibited in the 2009 Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
The winning etching and examples from the Stonehenge project will all be available to inspect alongside paintings drawings postcards and books in her Hartford Studio. 10.0 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. 19th & 20th September.
