Southport International Festival @ Hesketh Park

A new site for the event, while the Southport Arts Centre gets a makeover. Once again Brouhaha International returns to this popular northern seaside town with local, national and international artist. Bring your family, a picnic and let Brouhaha entertain you.

Artists will deliver a multi arts project to community participants. It will involve young artists and performers from across Europe who will celebrate a common cultural heritage based on a modern European multicultural identity.

The festival opens with its customary colourful display of carnival and percussion outside the Novas Scarman Contemporary Urban Centre. We give you a visual brochure of our 19th annual festival with performances from festival favourites and new companies. Come join us for an evening of cultural dance and music.

Brouhaha is back at the Unity for 4 nights, with each night bringing a different flavour to its audience. Hip– Hop Nation kicks of the programme of with its urban hip hop theatre from Martinique, Holland and Germany. Global Beat introduces you to new music from Trinidad& Tobago via Portugal to Malta; EuroMed in Culture draws the event to a close on Thursday and Friday with music, dance and theatre from Spain, Italy Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt.

Brouhaha International continues to work alongside Northwest based Housing Associations brings International Artists to resident and community centres. The Artists will deliver workshops and performances that allow the residents to access quality international work and experience arts and culture within their local settings

Global Beats has for the past 6 years brought to music fans a mixture of contemporary Hip Hop to traditional Moroccan Andalus music. This year sees an extended programme for this event at Studio 2, Liverpool.  

Come take a breather from the mundane and the normal at Studio 2, sit back and, enjoy the comfy seats and enjoy the Global sounds. Brouhaha International brings you an evening of Music from Egypt, Poland, Italy, Holland and Malta. The music of the future, it will take you beyond current phenomenon of talent show musicians and bring you true artists. It’s an evening not just for the Music fans but for the family to enjoy.

A reflection of an island and its people, the 9th largest Island in the world.
The Liverpool International Carnival, UK largest single piece of moving art, returns to take over the Streets Of Liverpool.

The project encourages us to research and learn more about the diversity of Liverpool and the UK, and help us to understand the complex ever-changing world we live in, a world of different cultures, people and their individual personalities making this world and our lives a colourful mosaic. Through the Liverpool International Carnival ‘Mas’ you will see Ray Allan Mahabir’s work reflect the colourful mosaic of Liverpool’s culture.

2009 will play host to two pieces of newly commissioned work. The collaborative pieces will be 18 & A Bullet  – A Hip Hop dance project based on the Gun and Knife crime amongst young people, The project aims bring together the experiences of the young people through the medium of dance.

Music Talks – a project that brings young musicians together giving them an opportunity to gain skills in collaborative music performance and recording music. The groups will create a song for the Brouhaha International Carnival that will be performed at the Music Stage.

Brouhaha International will be working in partnership with Love Music Hate Racism to deliver the programme on the Music Stage.

One Stage One Nation –Once again the Mela returns to celebrate the South Asian Culture that has influenced many cultures across the world. To celebrate the overall theme of the festival ‘The People Who Came’, will showcase local artist from Sola Arts Refugee Arts Collective. Once again Brouhaha International will produce a collaborative dance performance choreographed by Denny Paul and House of Suarez Dancers.  Liverpool International Mela will be featuring Artist from the Play – Az Lab, Lightnin MC, Majid Khan and Onkar Singh.
