ONE art came about in April 2015 when three local artists – Freida McKitrick, Karen Edwards and Katherine Caldwell – got in touch with Liverpool ONE about opening up a pop-up shop in the empty unit where the La Senza shop used to be.
After getting approval to open the shop they invited a range of artists from across Liverpool and the Wirral to join them in this exciting adventure.
Katherine Caldwell said: “We wanted to offer customers a wide range of items from some of the best talent the area has to offer. We have painters, pastel artists, photographers, illustrators, print-makers, writers, textile artists and a stone worker.
The pop-up was a huge success from the start. Customers ranged from tourists looking for a Liverpool themed mug to take back with them on their cruise ship, to locals wanting a special piece of artwork for their home. People loved that they were being served by the artists and that you could see them at work in store. This created a really unique and memorable retail experience. Many were inspired and pleasantly surprised to see such a high standard of quality from local artists.
After an even bigger success in our second shop we are still popping up around Liverpool ONE today and we are now on our third pop-up!
We are currently located on Peter’s Lane above the Interesting Eating Company – and we’ll be popping up a bit longer meaning we’ll be here for all your Christmas gift needs!!
We have loved working with Liverpool ONE and we think they’ve really liked working with us too. We were recently nominated for, and won, a Liverpool ONE RARA award in the category for collaboration.
