Arts bodies face 6.9% budget cuts | Culture |

Most arts organisations in England will have their budgets cut by 6.9% in the next financial year, Arts Council England (ACE) announced today.

The cut is less than had been feared and lower than the 10% that ACE had encouraged its portfolio of more than 800 regularly funded organisations (RFOs) to prepare for. But it also warned that April 2011 to April 2012 was being treated as a transitional year and there would be tougher decisions to be made.

All arts organisations would have to reapply for funding, and some would not receive it, it said.
