Art in Liverpool Magazine is out now

Art in Liverpool magazine, a new monthly newspaper dedicated to visual art in the Liverpool City Region, is out now. The first issue features some of the most exciting exhibitions around the region, with new concise What’s On, and Opportunities, sections.

For years we’ve asked our readers to come to us, and dedicated our efforts to bringing together news and events around the region that we believe are worth seeing. 2018 is a year of change for Art in Liverpool though, with announcements slowly filtering through about our work with the Independents Biennial for 2018, and loads of exciting new partnerships helping us to build new audiences for artists and galleries alike.

Every month we will feature a new artist on our front cover, and we will try as hard as we possibly can to bring in advertisers from the creative industries, who can actually make the magazine a better thing to read. For our first issue, the front cover was produced with help from the Singh Twins, using digital art work from their outstanding current solo exhibition at Walker Art Gallery. As artists they have an international reputation but have always seen Liverpool as an important hub for their practice. The work on the front cover is a detail from Indigo: The Colour of India.

None of this would have been possible without our advertisers either, who have made this project possible, both financially, but also with a great deal of support and advice. Tate Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, RIBA North, The Atkinson, Open Eye Gallery, dot-art, Cass Art, and Heart of Glass have all given their time and advice and we look forward to working with them on the future of this magazine as well as the festival it is supporting.

The centre pages include exciting announcements about our upcoming Independents Biennial, the fringe to Liverpool Biennial 2018. The festival is a region wide response to Liverpool Biennial’s 2018 question, ‘Beautiful World, Where Are You?’. The fringe is a chance to give a significant and lasting voice to the artists and independents galleries of the Liverpool City Region, so if you have any questions full details can found here, or spread across the centre spread of our fantastic new magazine.

Art in Liverpool launched in 2004, and in the 14 years since we have seen Liverpool named as the European Capital of Culture, the foundations being laid on countless new galleries, and the results that all that has had on the identity of the city. We are proud to have been part of that journey, but as we’re on our way to our 15th birthday we wanted to make sure that audiences from all over the region had the chance to find out more about the brilliant things happening on their doorsteps. The magazine, and the festival, are our chance to make that happen.
