Powerplant – FACT, The Box 05 June 2007 19.00 FREE
Bringing together some of the UK’s most dynamic young artists, Powerplant explores hi-octane percussion-led music with an electronic sound and strong visual performance.
Led by percussionist Joby Burgess, the performance will include Steve Reich’s hypnotic Electric Counterpoint, re-worked for the Xylosynth and Lannis Xenakis’s tour de force Rebonds B, as well as new music by the group.
Powerplant’s set of Kraftwerk classiscs, arranged by Joby and composer Ben Foster features the innovative and award winning Elysian Quartet, in a heady mix of live-sampling, lush strings and a little 80’s chic.
The evening will begin with a Q+A session with the artists, followed by the performance.
