News From Liverpool Welsh Choral

LOCAL  CHOIR  ATTRACTS  MUSICAL  MAESTROS  FOR  2008!

As the publicity says,Liverpool Welsh Choral is ‘Simply Dynamic.’

Founded in the city in 1900, the choir has won much critical acclaim and is
now, under the direction of Keith Orrell,one of the largest, leading choral
societies in Britain.

The LWC’s rich musical history combined with the obvious enthusiasm of
Merseysiders, is proving that the ‘European Capital of Culture’ year in 2008
is attracting musical talent from far and wide.

* CELEBRATING ‘CYMREICTOD.’

ALED JONES joins the choir and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on
St David’s Day, Saturday 1st March to help the city echo with reminders of
its Welsh founding fathers who built so many of the traditional old streets.

*CELEBRATING THE AMERICAN LINKS.

PRO ARTE CHORALE from NEW YORK, our twinned city, will join LWC in a
celebratory concert on Saturday May 24th. Having sung at Carnegie Hall,
Lincoln Centre and The Vatican, it is a high honour that members of this
prestigious choir are coming to support the city during our special year.

*CELEBRATING CULTURAL LIVERPOOL.

KARL JENKINS, A WORLD PREMIER. As Patron of LWC, Karl will conduct his own
composition, specially commissioned by the choir in honour of the city’s
greatness both past and present. This outstanding concert will take place in
November 2008.
