An Intimate Evening of Conversation and Music in Unique Surroundings

Date: Friday 1st April 2011, 7pm (7.30pm start)

Club Geek Chic announces another of their successful events as Karen Podesta and Gemma Aldcroft continue their now renowned ‘In Conversation’ series in the Concert Room at St George’s Hall in Liverpool on Friday 1st April, with Liverpool-born actor, comedian and impersonator PETER SERAFINOWICZ.

The ex-Bluecoat school boy will talk about his incredible career which has seen him take on such varied roles as Duane Benzie, Simon Pegg’s arch-nemesis in Spaced, the USA-obsessed Tex from I’m Alan Partridge, a Tomorrow’s World style scientist in the Open University-inspired Look Around You not to mention a plethora of bizarre and hilarious characters in the self-titled sketch series, The Peter Serafinowicz Show.

Audience members will hope to hear some of the now infamous and scarily accurate vocal impersonations that have helped make Serafinowicz the phenomenon he is today, a talent which has recently seen him land a job of voicing the role of Sir Paul McCartney in the upcoming 3D remake of Yellow Submarine.

Serafinowicz has been on the ‘In Conversation’ wish list from day one so it is a handy coincidence that Co-Director Karen Podesta and Peter actually went to the same primary school!

Club Geek Chic’s Karen Podesta said “I always remembered Peter and his siblings as the other family in the school who had a surname nobody could pronounce, It was wonderful to have such a great ice-breaker when we approached him to take part in the series as we’ve both been following Peter’s career with enthusiasm since ‘Look Around You.”

Serafinowicz, who was born in the Gateacre area of Liverpool and moved to London in his early twenties, where he lives with his wife, actress Sarah Alexander and their son Sam, responded immediately to this ‘blast from the past’.

Peter Serafinowicz said “I am looking forward to taking part in this unique event, it also gives me a fantastic opportunity to return to my native city, something I rarely have time to do”.

Club Geek Chic’s Gemma Aldcroft added “We had to wait a while before Peter was able to confirm the actual date due to his insanely busy schedule so we are completely delighted that he is finally able to take part.  His 490,000 followers on Twitter are proof of what a popular choice he is and will be”.

The evening also takes on a live ‘Desert Island Discs’ style format featuring the interviewee’s top five song choices and performed live by five separate acts.  The ‘In Conversation’ series has previously showcased many new and emerging Liverpool artistes including Ragz, Carrie Hayden, Poppy L’mour and Sparkwood & 21 and this event will be no exception. As a talented musician himself, Peter’s love of music will be only too apparent on the night in his song choices. A Question and Answer session will also take place with audience members.

Serafinowicz is the latest in an impressive line-up of guests that Club Geek Chic’s Gemma and Karen have secured for the ‘In Conversation’ events and they are already in talks with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s Chief Conductor Vasily Petrenko and actors Sue Johnston and Jason Isaacs.  Future guests and dates are to be announced shortly.
