From our friends at Mercy…
Live music, poetry, fancy dress and arts rave in the heart of Liverpool’s binge-drinking quarter. Did we mention fancy dress? Fancy dress
Mello Mello, Slater St.
Friday Oct 26 2007 20.00 till Late
5 years old and collecting sweeties for a massive audio-visual assault on the Capital of Culture next year, Mercy dare to show their faces once more with another late night and early morning of allsorts, shamelessly riding the Halloween bandwagon. woooOOOOooohh!
Affordable and anarchic; full of the pant-wettingly exciting and tear-jerkingly frightening, HUTHY features some of the UK’s best acts, artworks and random actions hung together by nothing more than a common goal – to trick and treat the arts community into a frenzied revelry. FANCY DRESS
Radioplastic (Exceptional Records), The Amnesiacs and The Grand Architects
Wave Machines / Fiction collaboration (will it work?) and Film screening
Mercy DJ Squad and Dialogue Disco Supreme Team (HIVE)
HOSTED BY Fiction Massive
Live music will be from the returning Amnesiacs – who blew the place up in August with their blistering Scouse ska and Specials covers; a Mercy debut for fantastic Radioplastic – slick producers of glitchy bangers and spiky beats; an international debut for rockabilly quartet The Grand Architects; and the best band in Liverpool right now, Wave Machines, titillating one and all with a performance collaboration they’ve been working on with Mercy’s very own Fiction spoken word residents. Whitty whoo. When that’s done the night will degenerate into the small hours of tomorrow as Liverpool’s electronic leaders HIVE’s spin-off machine DDST will be spinning off some really gay hi-NRG disco and the newly-renamed Mercy DJ squad will be rolling some dodgy electro and speed garage on top of some better stuff. That’s a promise on the better stuff.
Expect the weird and the wonderful, upstairs and down. For sure there will be more of those delicious free baked goods, more free beers thanks to our pals at Red Stripe, and obviously sparkling conversation with good looking people. Not quite dwarves with trays of powder on their heads, but near enough…
WHO ARE WE and WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
Mercy are a collective of artists, designers, performers, scroungers, ladykillers and scamps. They have been producing an unparalleled run of live events and print in Liverpool and across the UK for 5 years this month.
Art is way better than sport. But sport got all the cash. So Mercy are throwing this series of do’s to keep on keeping on in the face of such setbacks. Show your solidarity brother and sister, power to the people. The art people at least.
