Location:  Manchester

Salary:  £30,578 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Contract: Permanent, working 35 hours per week.


The Arts Council are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic research professional to join their Policy and Research team.

They will provide research expertise to Arts Council England, building a robust evidence base on issues relevant to long-term policy development.  To work across the organisation to provide research and knowledge insight and support on key areas identified as part of the strategic research programme.

They will ensure that the Arts Council’s strategy and policy are informed by high-quality research and evidence to support the delivery of the Arts Council’s goals and priorities.

To lead on major research programmes or projects, manage contracts, grants and commissions for research activity, provide in-depth analysis of research findings as well as producing analysis of major datasets (such as Taking Part and Active Lives).

Working closely with external partners, including the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, representing the Arts Council and leading on specific research programmes and initiatives as well as participating in discussion groups and seminars on research issues.

To succeed in this role, they will have a deep knowledge of policy and research and the arts and culture ecology, probably developed through senior level experience with an arts organisation, a museum, an education provider or a local authority.
