Project Conservator, Science Museum Group

Museum of Science and Industry – Manchester

Salary: Up to £22,000 per annum

Are you a highly skilled, efficient and enthusiastic Conservator looking for a new project?

We’re looking for a project conservator to join our team, carrying out preventive and interventive conservation during a store reorganisation project.

As a qualified conservator or with comparable experience you’ll promote safe working practices, high conservation and collections care standards and advise the project team. Your role will include condition checking and documentation, object hazard management, security and access, movement, and storage. You’ll also prepare condition and treatment reports as well as storage recommendation reports, using our collections database.

To be successful in this role you’ll need excellent interpersonal skills and be confident communicating with a wide range of people, as you will be working closely with both the project team and colleagues across the museum.

Most importantly, you’ll need to be confident in problem solving and prioritising your workload to achieve the project objectives on time and to budget, whilst maintaining high standards to comply with professional best practice and statutory requirements.

This is a fixed term contract for 5 months.

Interviews will be held on 30 June 2017.
