Project Co-ordinator for Tell Us Another One, Cartwheel Arts

Deadline: 12 noon Thursday 29 October 2015. Paid, Full time.

Cartwheel Arts is an ambitious and innovative company based in Heywood, Greater Manchester, which has delivered participatory arts projects in Rochdale borough and across the North West for over 30 years.

We need a highly organised, energetic and talented Project Co-ordinator to complete the current phase of our brilliant Tell Us Another One project, engaging diverse communities in Rochdale, Bury and Oldham in a gripping adventure in creative writing and sharing stories.

The post and project is funded by Big Lottery Fund until March 2017.

TUAO offers hundreds of people from low income neighbourhoods, most of whom have never written before, the opportunity to see their work in print or to perform it live. The project celebrates diversity and promotes cohesion within and between communities through our magazine Scribble, vibrant celebratory events, a fascinating and eclectic variety of creative projects and the annual Scribble festival.

TUAO works in neighbourhoods where the project is well established while developing our work with other communities, including refugee communities. We plan to deliver a dedicated programme of work with young people and to devise work with older people, in particular to bridge the ‘digital divide”.

In each neighbourhood we support a Story Group for adults meeting monthly for creative writing activities and also develop discrete projects engaging a variety of people in the communities, aiming to build bridges between groups who may have little contact with one another. Each project will lead to a product – sometimes a printed publication, but always a digital product, distributed electronically.

The post is full time (37 hours per week) at a salary of £24,281. The post enjoys a 7.5% employer pension contribution. 30 days holiday.

Cartwheel Arts is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
