A fantastic opportunity for an experienced cultural Producer to join the Blackpool Illuminations core team to deliver the Lightpool Festival, 28 October – 2 November 2016, in Blackpool.
Between 20-30 works from local, national and international artists will transform the town centre to create a walking route linking together the cultural landmarks of Blackpool Tower, Winter Gardens and Grand Theatre with town-centre businesses. There will be an associated programme of live and performance art directly relating to light and fire, and a conference/symposium to consider the impact of the works and to pull together thinkers and doers from the creative and cultural sectors.
This is the Lightpool Festival’s first year and it’s been made possible with the generous support of the Coastal Communities Fund and grant funding from Arts Council England. Blackpool Illuminations is part of Light Up the North, a network for Northern Light Festivals, and the Lightpool Festival is the newest addition. The town has a unique history and relationship with light so the potential for the festival is very great. Much of the programme is already in place and you will be joining a small and motivated team.
The project has a fixed fee of up to £5,000, with day rate dependent on experience. We anticipate that you would be based locally for the project, however welcome applications from further afield. Closing date for applications is Monday 22 August at 12pm, with interviews on Skype or in person on 25/26 August. Please be in touch directly for the full job specification.
