Earn your living with us working part time teaching classes, contributing to the development of the studio and the creativity of our customers. The role also includes some technician hours to provide a full days work. 7 Limes pottery is a professional pottery teaching South of Manchester City centre, that has been running for over 20 years.
Evening and/or daytime classes / Weekend workshops / Lesson plans, evaluating courses / Ensuring equipment and materials are ready for each class / Cleaning up before and after classes / Promoting 7 Limes Pottery classes and workshops to current and potential customers
Loading and unloading kilns / Preparing & reclaiming clay / Glazing student work / Organising student work / Mixing up slips & glazes / Mould making / Studio maintenance / Managing shared studio users / Stock taking / Cleaning among other duties
Degree in ceramics or equivalent experience
Teaching qualification or equivalent experience, with a good understanding of teaching approaches and learning methods.
Must be able to throw on the wheel confidently and proficiently
Good communication skills, particularly verbal interpersonal skills
A good understanding of COSHH and the tasks required to maintain good health and safety in a ceramics studio environment
Must be able to lift items above 15 kg
Previous teaching experience in a ceramics studio
Excellent hand-building skills
An ability to encourage creativity in a class and give ideas that inspire students
The position is offered on a self-employed basis, ideally 2-3 days per week (0.5-0.6 full time hours). To begin with the hours will be less while you become accustomed to the studio and we can transition classes from current tutors. The job is very flexible, you would be able to work more hours if you wish.
