Main Purpose

Liverpool City Council are seeking to recruit a Volunteer manager for its major events in 2018.

Following on from the success of European Capital of Culture in 2008, Liverpool has secured itself as one of the leading major outdoor event and cultural destinations within the UK. Over the past few years, Culture Liverpool delivered a vast array of events, generating millions of pounds for the local economy. Culture Liverpool has delivered iconic events such as The Giants, Three Queens, The Mersey River Festival, Liverpool International Music Festival, Sgt Pepper series, Chinese New Year and many more. The overall events programme has attracted 1.5 million visitors to the City during the last 12 months.

The programme for 2018 is as unique as this City. 2018 will be a not to be missed journey celebrating the City’s position at the epicentre of UK art, culture, fashion, business and sport attracting extensive worldwide global media exposure.

Therefore Culture Liverpool, Liverpool City Council, is looking to appoint a Volunteer manager to support and deliver its major outdoor events in 2018, managing and developing the Volunteer programme for the City council.

This post is fixed term for 12 months from date of appointment.

Key Accountabilities

To deliver the ongoing recruitment and training of all Volunteers for Culture Liverpool, in relation to the 2018 programme.

Work in partnership with Project and Event Managers within Culture Liverpool to identify Volunteer opportunities to facilitate the delivery of the 2018 programme.

To develop a range of Volunteer placements within the service and publicise these.

Support Volunteers to be meaningfully and actively involved in Culture Liverpool.

Recruit, induct and supervise Volunteers

Develop and deliver training for Volunteers, as part of the activity programme for the service

To develop links with other partner organisations and stakeholders within Liverpool in line with the Volunteer programme.

To follow up on Volunteer no-shows

To contribute to the development of projects by attending and participating in team meetings.

To act as first point of contact for Volunteers, checking in regularly ensuring Volunteers are supported, engage and happy in their volunteering roles.

Maintain effective records, including monitoring and evaluation of the outcomes of the Volunteer programme

To deal with general correspondence relating to the work of the events and Volunteer programme.

To prepare and produce statistical data and budget for major events that have   been allocated to us.

To deal with general public telephone/mail enquiries as necessary.

To ensure the completion of all staff records in accordance with City Council procedures.

Process Volunteer claims

To undertake duties outside of normal office hours as determined by the scope of the post and Major events programme.

To undertake any other duty within the competence of the post holder (and relevant to the post) which may be required at the request of the Project / Events Manager.To undergo additional training as required.
