Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT) is an independent charity founded in 1999. We are guardians of a unique and beautiful village, working with its community to ensure a great quality of life for residents and to celebrate William Lever’s amazing legacy through cultural and learning experiences for all.
PSVT has recently secured funding from AIM Biffa Award through their History Makers programme to create an exciting new gallery in Port Sunlight which will launch in early summer 2020. We want to bring the story of William Lever to life – exploring his innovative thinking, impact and legacy – making it relevant and fun for local families and schools. The project will be transformative, effectively doubling the size of Port Sunlight Museum’s existing visitor offer. It also presents a unique opportunity to test out new ideas and ways of working which will inform future audience development activity and interpretive master planning.
The aim of the History Makers project is to encourage people to think about the wider world and to spark interest in the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The theme is soap – making it, selling it, and using it – past, present and future.
We are seeking to recruit a Learning Officer to join the project team at a critical stage in the gallery’s development. You will ensure that the needs of families and primary schools are met by helping to shape the content of the new gallery and through the development of formal and family learning programmes. You will also lead a co-production project, working with two local primary schools to create their own displays for a section of the gallery and to build a sustainable relationship for the future.
