Liverpool Arabic Centre is looking to appoint an experienced project coordinator to lead and facilitate a new project supported by Covenant Funding.
The Project: is an intergenerational multimedia project. It aims to connect young people from the ethnic minorities, principally of Arab descent, with British ex-servicemen who served in Aden from 1938-1965 or Merchant Navy seamen who regularly visited Aden. Participating ex-servicemen therefore will be both British servicemen and also Commonwealth merchant seamen. The project will therefore share an historical narrative of Aden and raise awareness of its importance, which remains largely overlooked. A short film DVD will be produced to share awareness locally, regionally and nationally.
The Post Holder: will be a strong self-starter, excellent project planning and management skills, highly organised with attention to detail. You will be an experienced researcher and confident engaging with English an non-English speaking members of Arab communities in Liverpool and beyond, therefore, ability to speak Arabic will be an advantage but not essential. You will demonstrate prior success in recruiting and supporting young people’s participation and experience working with external delivery partners and agencies. Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on all aspects of the project through to a successful completion is essential.
You will be enthusiastic, reliable and an excellent communicator and a genuine interest in Arab heritage and Culture. The applicant will be able to manage multiple priorities, deliver a challenging workload under pressure and work within a budget.
Application Process: In the first instance email your most recent CV along with no more than two sides of A4 telling us about your qualities and experience and what you will bring to this project and our organisation.
