Freelance Brief: Commercial/Sales Development, The Modernist Society

We are looking for an experienced and expert person to work with us across a period of time to  help us understand the potential of our products, advise on pricing, commerciality and distribution , make a plan and implement it.

We have also recently relocated to a gallery shop space in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and we need to maximise commercial income from this space.

Budget: 12 days @£250 per day

We need help with:

Looking at the products we have, assessing their commerciality, and making a plan about how to sell them online, in our store and in other retail outlets.


Maximising use of our retail space

Visual merchandising


Setting income targets and making a plan to achieve them.

Identifying markets and distribution

You’ll be:

An experienced marketing/merchandising professional either in your own business or in an organisation

Someone with a good understanding of the cultural/architecture/heritage space that we operate in and of working with a very limited development budget

Immediately ready to start with lots of ideas and contacts

Able to communicate well and work with a small board of Directors

Able to work from, or come to meetings in, our office in central Manchester

You’ll have:

A track record of this type of work, ideally in a cultural organisation

We are also engaging a freelancer to help us with help us understand our audience better and develop a marketing strategy to increase and diversify the people we reach across all our activities, including sales, and we would like you to work closely with them.
