As part of Barra Culture’s 2021-22 ‘Engaging Barrow’ artists-in-residence programme, this is an OPEN CALL for 4 community-engaged artists/companies working in any art form(s).
Working with either:
– A geographic community, anything from a group from a street of 50 people up to a neighbourhood of around 3000
or
– A characteristic/identity group – teenagers, young adults, older people, physically disabled people, neurodiverse people, women, men, families with young children
and in collaboration with Barra Culture’s Creative Communities team, you will deliver an exciting, distinctive, and inspirational participatory arts project in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness.
This opportunity has been designed to provide scope for unlimited imaginative, and probably unexpected, ideas – a chance to work creatively and make a difference to the lives of those living in the Borough. We will work with local people to select the projects.
SCHEDULE:
Application deadline: midday, Monday 18 October 2021
Selection process: w/c 25 October + w/c 1 November 2021
Project delivery: between 15 November 2021 and 31 March 2022 (to be agreed between Barra Culture, selected artist/company and local residents)
Sharing/performance/exhibition events may fall within the period above or may be scheduled in beyond March 2022.
BUDGET
There is £8,000 available for each of these 4 projects which should cover fees, expenses, and material costs. Some resources and labour may be contributed in-kind by partner organisations, and you will be supported throughout by the Barra Culture team.
